My Top 10 Favorite Dog Breeds

Doing some work with Pet Bandits certainly struck up some interest in me to have a dog of my own. My family and I had three dogs, with one surviving and old now. Chippy is a Spitz, like her deceased son Borj. Both were really so cute. Chippy was very active and playful, Borj was a little more calmer but very chubby and cute! Our first dog was Rocky (actually he was a birthday present to my brother from his godfather), and he was a guard dog. He would just stay silent at one corner and watch us. I cannot pinpoint which breed he was, but I’m hoping to find out with this project.Great Dane with Chihuahua

I’m also having this urge to buy another dog for the family. But I don’t know which one! So I decided to get my top 10 favorite from the top 50 dog breeds.

1. Great Dane: It’s the gentle giant, the Great Dane. It’s the tallest among the breeds, yet it is kind, sweet, and affectionate. It doesn’t bark much, and it’s a very dependable dog. It is a very able watch dog. It’s presence can be intimidating with its size, but its intelligent and earnest expression speaks of its tenderness.

2. Siberian Husky: Watching Eight Below inspired me to love this dog. It has wolfish features, yet this breed is hardworking, dependable, and very affectionate. The Siberian Husky is a people-oriented breed and is great with other dogs, too. It is also active and intelligent, as well friendly and easy to get along with.

3. Chow Chow: I like big dogs that are affectionate, and the Chow Chow is one. This dog is big and furry. I have seen one close, and its size was daunting (I can just imagine how I’d feel if I’d see a Great Dane!). Its notable features are its blue-black tongue and straight hind legs. This breed also has a reserved personality, so you have to socialize it with other people, dogs, and household pets. This breed is also on of the breeds that has a sad history. In China, the Chow Chow wasn’t only used for guarding things and pulling carts. It was also used for its meat and fur. It also lacked a single master, and this dog is the one-master-only type.

4. Alaskan Malamute: If you put a Siberian Husky and an Alaskan Malamute in front of me, I’d have a hard time telling which is which because they look almost exactly the same to me. The Alaskan Malamute is also wolf-like, although they have a softer features than the Siberian Husky’s sharp ones. This breed is also hardworking and dependable, and sweet-tempered and affectionate.

5. Collie: I like dogs with lots of fur, and the Collie has it. The Collie is also a kind and even-tempered breed. It’s also very devoted to its owner and family. We can all relate to this as we remember the movie Lassie. I just have a problem with herding dogs having a habit of nipping at people’s ankles. The collie is easy to train, though, and can outgrow this habit.

6. Golden Retriever: This is one of the most popular dogs. The Golden Retriever can be said to be the most ideal dog for a family. It is sweet, confident, and intelligent. It is also a loyal dog, and makes a great guard dog.

7. Labrador Retriever: The Labrador Retriever ties with the Golden Retriever as the most popular dog. The Labrador is a friendly and affectionate dog, as well as a responsible and intelligent one. It loves to play and make good retrievers when one goes hunting, or when one just wants to have something retrieved for him. The Labrador loves to carry things in his/her mouth, so you can ask him/her to get a pillow or something for you.

8. Dalmatian: Yes, I also like those spots. But I’m no Cruella, I love the Dalmatian! Its appearance aside, it has a very playful and energetic personality. It can be very active at times; lots of energy is needed to raise this dog. This dog is just lovable!

9. German Shepherd: I chose another dog with intelligence and independence written on its face. The German Shepherd can be a little aggressive if not socialized well enough. This is a protective breed, and does not take kindly to strangers.

10. Great Pyrenees: This is one unique breed. The Great Pyrenees tends to be nocturnal, resting through the day and active at night. It makes a good watch and guard dog. It is a friendly and affectionate dog, and can bond very well with it family. It can be watchful, reserved, and territorial, though.

Local Search In Twitter Is Possible

So I came across an article while I was socializing in Mixx about the 12 Ways to Use Twitter To Increase Your Productivity. While there are some features enumerated there that aren’t really that useful for my productivity, there were a couple that caught my attention. One of these is the Multimap.

Multimap Twitter logoMultimap is basically just another Twitter-er. But this twitter is also different in a way that it helps you find information and directions on places and locations. It also helps you access maps and local information.

Here’s a snip form the Multimap Bot Guide on how to get directions from Multimap:

Get directions

    • from edinburgh,gb to liverpool,gb
    • from 02216 to 02121
  • The from … to command will send you a summary of a route between your two locations.

Message format: “from address string or lon,lat to address string or lon,lat

    Examples:

    Example response: “Directions from edinburgh,gb to liverpool,gb :: A701 > A74(M) > M6 > M58″

This is simply a superb idea. It got me into thinking that Local Search is possible in Twitter. It’s possible not only in Twitter, in fact! This concept can very well be inputted in other social networking sites. I’ll leave it Multimap guy, though, since it was his idea. Follow him on Twitter!

I would just like to note down the other useful Twitter applcations stated in the article (useful for me, at least).

Back To Study Local Search Marketing

Boise Google MapI am now back to focusing most of my time on Local SEO. Truth is, with the amount of tasks piling up these past many days, I had forgotten about it!

I’m retracing my steps to study Local Search Marketing from stage 1. This means browsing through Local SEO blogs and pages that we can find. I’ve already found a few, most of which BJ Wright gave to me…

Understanding Google Maps and Yahoo! Local Search

I’ve also decided to put aside some time to scroll around SEOmoz.com. A lot of information is still coming in. I was overwhelmed with the amount of information I have had to organize back then, and I am a little stumped now. A lot of details have to be observed where Local Search is concerned. I have to make most of my time to learn all there is to Local Search Marketing.
