Local Search In Twitter Is Possible

So I came across an article while I was socializing in Mixx about the 12 Ways to Use Twitter To Increase Your Productivity. While there are some features enumerated there that aren’t really that useful for my productivity, there were a couple that caught my attention. One of these is the Multimap.

Multimap Twitter logoMultimap is basically just another Twitter-er. But this twitter is also different in a way that it helps you find information and directions on places and locations. It also helps you access maps and local information.

Here’s a snip form the Multimap Bot Guide on how to get directions from Multimap:

Get directions

    • from edinburgh,gb to liverpool,gb
    • from 02216 to 02121
  • The from … to command will send you a summary of a route between your two locations.

    Message format: “from address string or lon,lat to address string or lon,lat

    Examples:

    Example response: “Directions from edinburgh,gb to liverpool,gb :: A701 > A74(M) > M6 > M58″

This is simply a superb idea. It got me into thinking that Local Search is possible in Twitter. It’s possible not only in Twitter, in fact! This concept can very well be inputted in other social networking sites. I’ll leave it Multimap guy, though, since it was his idea. Follow him on Twitter!

I would just like to note down the other useful Twitter applcations stated in the article (useful for me, at least).

Boise Google MapI am now back to focusing most of my time on Local SEO. Truth is, with the amount of tasks piling up these past many days, I had forgotten about it!

I’m retracing my steps to study Local Search Marketing from stage 1. This means browsing through Local SEO blogs and pages that we can find. I’ve already found a few, most of which BJ Wright gave to me…

Understanding Google Maps and Yahoo! Local Search

I’ve also decided to put aside some time to scroll around SEOmoz.com. A lot of information is still coming in. I was overwhelmed with the amount of information I have had to organize back then, and I am a little stumped now. A lot of details have to be observed where Local Search is concerned. I have to make most of my time to learn all there is to Local Search Marketing.
